Welcome to 2018! When it comes to New Year’s Resolutions, people often set self-improvement based goals: get healthier, save more money, quit bad habits, etc. But we can’t forget about the goals that reach us on a deeper level: spend more time with family, travel more, experience new things. If you’ve considered taking your family to Disney, but just haven’t pulled the trigger yet, here’s why 2018 is the year to finally take that Disney vacation!
1) Experience what’s new at the Disney Destinations.
2018 is a big year, particularly at the Disney Parks. New lands will open on both coasts, with Toy Story Land debuting at Hollywood Studios and a Pixar Pier refresh coming to California Adventure. Check out my post on 18 Reasons to Visit Disney in 2018 for details on everything new Disney has to offer this year.
2) Enjoy the time when the kids can truly live the fantasy.
I know a lot of people love to wait until their kids are the “perfect age” for Disney. But I have a secret for you – there is no perfect age! However, if you’re looking for the best time to go it’s when your kids are young enough to fully experience the magic. Let them enjoy it when the characters are real to them and they truly believe they can fly. These are the moments you’ll remember forever.
3) Disney typically increases prices every year.
It’s sad, but true – prices tend to go up every year. In fact, we already know that sailing with Disney Cruise Line in 2018 can be several hundred dollars cheaper than sailing in 2019. If you see a package that fits your budget, take advantage of that lower pricing!
4) Future discounts are never guaranteed.
While people love to search for military discounts and popular promotions (such as “Free Dining”), we need to keep in mind that Disney can discontinue or change these options at any time (they’re a business, after all). If there’s a particular discount that you want, be sure to grab it while it’s available – it may not be back next year.
5) Enjoy “the year before the crowds”.
I’m looking at you, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. If you’re not a big Star Wars fan, you’ll definitely want to head to the Disney Parks this year instead of next. When the new lands open in Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park we’re expecting massive crowds. Get ahead of the game by visiting before the chaos.
6) Cruise with your favorite characters aboard a Star Wars or Marvel Day at Sea.
Now, if you are a Star Wars (or Marvel) fan looking for a fun 2018 trip, you’ll want to book a Disney Cruise with one of their specially-themed days at sea. These include character experiences, shows, special dining, and unique activities you won’t find anywhere else.
7) You never know when your favorite attraction might close for good.
In 2017 we lost a few classic Disney attractions and shows with little warning: The Great Movie Ride, Ellen’s Energy Adventure, Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba, and DisneyQuest, just to name a few. The parks are constantly evolving, so make those memories while you can.
8) If not now, then when?
