Transportation
One of the major benefits of staying at a Disney Resort hotel is use of the complimentary transportation and parking services. When transporting an infant, there are a few things to think about:
- Disney’s Magical Express – The Magical Express bus will take you from Orlando Int’l Airport to your Disney Resort hotel. There is no way to secure an infant seat on-board, so you’ll have to hold your infant in your lap. Luggage, including car seats and folded strollers, will be stowed below the bus.
- Disney World Resort Transportation – As mentioned previously, there are a few types of transportation you’ll encounter on your trip: monorails, boats, and buses. Strollers can be rolled directly onto monorails, making them the easiest for families with small children. They will need to be folded and stowed for transport on buses and boats. Have your stroller ready to go by the time the bus/boat arrives so you don’t hold up the loading process. Once again, for these options you can hold your infant in your lap or your arms.
- Theme Park Transportation – Here you’ll encounter parking trams and an in-park railroad. For parking lot trams you’ll need to fold your stroller as you do for buses. You can avoid using the tram by walking from your car to the theme park entrance (look for signs for pedestrian paths). If you’d like to ride Walt Disney World Railroad inside Magic Kingdom, you’ll need to fold the stroller yet again. Note that Disney stroller rentals do not fold up, so for the train you’ll have to take all your items with you and pick up a new stroller at your next stop.
- UberFamily – Uber can be a great option for people looking to shorten commutes to the parks or going resort-to-resort, and they have started providing car seat service upon request in the Orlando area. While this is great, these car seats are designed for ages 2-6. If you’re traveling with an infant you’ll need to provide your own car seat or use Disney transportation.
