Happy Mother’s Day!
I know moms are frequently in charge of planning their family’s vacations, but I thought it would be fun to write this post for everyone. So whether you’re a spouse trying to plan a treat for your wife or a child trying to plan a surprise for your mom, here are a few great ways to help mom feel appreciated during your next Disney vacation.
Oh, and if you’re a mom trying to treat yourself, this one’s for you too!
Pampering
Who wouldn’t enjoy some relaxation on vacation? Arrange some time at a Disney spa! You can find them at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Disney’s Grand Californian Resort, or aboard Disney Cruise Line. You can also book time at a Disney salon for a fresh hairstyle or pedicure. A mother-child experience can be a lot of fun too!
Flowers
Want to surprise your mom with fresh flowers in the room? Contact Disney Floral & Gifts to arrange a delivery. You can also book a Gardens of the World Tour at Epcot for a guided experience around the World Showcase.
Chocolates
Who doesn’t love chocolate? There are certainly great desserts to be found at every Disney Destination, but some of my favorites include The Ganachery (Disney Springs), Amorette’s Patisserie (Disney Springs), and Ghirardelli (Disney Springs or California Adventure). If you’re sailing aboard the Disney Fantasy, be sure to check out the Sweet on You ice cream parlor.
Coffee & Wine
I may be the only mom who doesn’t indulge in coffee or wine, but I know plenty that do. Thankfully there are coffee shops located throughout the Disney Parks and aboard Disney Cruise Line. As for wine, almost every table-service restaurant serves a selection of wines. For a unique experience you can go wine tasting at Jiko – The Cooking Place or book a class on your cruise.
Animals
My mom loves animals, so I had to include this one. Animal Kingdom is the best place to find special tours and opportunities to get close to the animals. If you prefer marine life, you can get in the water with dolphins at Epcot or at many ports visited by Disney Cruise Line in the Bahamas or the Caribbean.
Photos
My phone is filled with photos of my kids, so I know how special it is to preserve our favorite memories. Book a photo package for your trip so you can download all the pictures taken on your vacation (this way the PhotoPass photographers can take them and everyone can be in the photos). For a special experience, you can book a private photo session with Disney Fine Arts Photography or a local photographer at the resorts. My favorite souvenirs from our trips actually include a set of hand-cut souvenirs from Main Street in Disneyland.
Jewelry
For a special treat on vacation, visit Disney Springs or Downtown Disney for some beautiful shopping opportunities. Locations such as Pandora, Alex and Ani, and the World of Disney story carry exclusive Disney-themed jewelry that is fun for any fan. In fact, I have a custom Pandora bracelet with a Hidden Mickey charm and beads engraved with the names of my boys. If you’re traveling aboard the Disney Fantasy, be sure to visit a little store known as Tiffany & Co…
Brunch
I feel like brunch is a meal everyone can enjoy. Two of the most famous Disney brunches are at California Grill in Walt Disney World and Palo aboard the Disney Dream and Fantasy. Be sure to book these meals early as they are very popular. If you’d prefer a meal with some character, there are many options available for character breakfasts throughout the parks and resorts.
Date Night
Disney knows that some parents would appreciate a vacation within a vacation, so they provide childcare options. At the parks and resorts Disney offers recommendations for babysitting providers. On Disney Cruise Line most kids can hang out in the Oceaneers Club, Vibe, or Edge at no additional cost. This leaves the evening free for parents to enjoy a signature meal, a show, or even some of the thrill rides! If you’d like it to feel even more special, book a dining package for Fantasmic!, World of Color, or an Epcot event.
This list is based this off of the things that most moms enjoy, but if you ever need some more unique ideas I’d love to work with you on your visit. I am a concierge vacation planner specializing in Disney Destinations. I help my clients find the exact experiences that will make their trips special.
Working with me is completely free when you book your Disney vacation package through me (and it costs you no more than if you booked it yourself). If you’d like to learn more or request a free quote, visit the link below!
