Whether you’re 8 or 80, birthdays are even more fun when you celebrate at the most magical place on Earth. Imagine spending your special day in a place of pure joy! For the Disney superfans and tag-a-longs alike, here are 10 ways for adults to celebrate their birthday at Walt Disney World.
1. Get Free Celebration Buttons for the Whole Family
You can request a free birthday button at City Hall in Magic Kingdom, or at Guest Services in any of the other theme parks or your Disney Resort Hotel. Anyone else traveling in your party can pick up an “I’m Celebrating” button to join in on the fun. They make the day more festive and attract special wishes from Cast Members throughout the resort. Tip: take a photo of your button once you get it; the “personalization” can smudge after a few hours of wear and tear.
2. Splurge on an Upgraded Room at a Disney Resort Hotel
What better time is there to reserve a luxury hotel room than your birthday? Choose from club level rooms with concierge service, theme park views of Cinderella Castle, or deluxe multi-bedroom suites. You can even spend your week in a private bungalow on the water at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. An experienced travel planner can help you decide on the perfect accommodations for your celebration.
3. Dine at Disney’s Signature Restaurants
Walt Disney World offers an excellent selection of signature and fine dining experiences, located at the Disney Resort Hotels, in Disney Springs, and inside the theme parks. Explore Jiko, California Grille, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Tiffins, or Citrico’s. For a truly special night, dine at the chef’s table at Victoria & Albert’s, an award-winning restaurant located at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
4. Indulge in a Spa Day
Speaking of the Grand Floridian, why not take a break from the parks to relax at Senses? This incredible spa offers facials, massages, body treatments, manicures & pedicures, and aromatherapy experiences. There are even packages for the gentlemen. Afterwards you can head over to the Ivy Trellis Salon to freshen up your style or lounge by the pool for the afternoon.
5. Play 18 Holes at a Disney Golf Course
Walt Disney World Resort has four golf courses: Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course, Disney’s Palm Golf Course, Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, and Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course. Play for a day or take lessons from a PGA Professional. It’s a great way to escape from the rush of the theme parks.
6. Dine with an Imagineer
Disney history buffs will appreciate the opportunity to have lunch or dinner with a Disney Imagineer. You can choose from lunch at the Hollywood Brown Derby in Hollywood Studios or dinner at Citrico’s at the Grand Floridian. Learn about the design of the parks, the stories behind the theming, and some Disney secrets. This special experience can be reserved up to 180 days in advance.
7. Be a VIP and Go Behind the Scenes
Imagine spending your birthday being escorted around the parks as you learn about the history behind the attractions. Popular tours include the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains, and Walt Disney: Marceline to Magic Kingdom. You can also go on a Starlight Safari at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. If you’d prefer a private tour, VIP Tour Services can arrange a private guide for your family who will get you to the front of the line on your favorite attractions, VIP seating for parades, fireworks, and select stage shows, and even pick you up from your Disney Resort hotel.
8. Bring Home a Special Souvenir
Purchase a truly unique birthday gift – a classic Disney painting from The Art of Disney in Disney Springs, a designer item from Alex and Ani or Dooney & Bourke, or an international item from the World Showcase at Epcot. You can also find birthday pins for sale at World of Disney, the world’s largest Disney store.
9. Enjoy a Fireworks Cruise
Cruise Seven Seas Lagoon with Ferrytale Wishes: A Fireworks Dessert Cruise. Included is a dessert party, specialty beverages, and an incredible view of Magic Kingdom’s Wishes Nighttime Spectacular. You’ll hear the music from the ferry boat as you watch the fireworks light up the stars overhead. For a more intimate experience, book a specialty celebration cruise on a 25-foot pontoon with private dining and room for up to 10 guests. You can even reserve Grand 1, a 52-foot Sea Ray Sedan Bridge Yacht with room for up to 13 guests!
10. Blow Out the Candles on Your Celebration Cake
You can order a custom birthday cake to be delivered to most table-service restaurants or your own room. These can be as simple as the Mickey Celebration Cake (which can also include balloons and “birthday ears”) or as elaborate as a one-of-a-kind fondant character creation. If you’re dining at the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary, or Cinderella’s Royal Table, you can also order the Cinderella Slipper Dessert, a white or dark chocolate “glass” slipper filled with chocolate mousse. Just be sure to order these treats in advance!
A day at Walt Disney World is truly magical, but a birthday celebration at Walt Disney World is like no other. Make your day incredible and have an amazing birthday!
