If you haven’t heard the news, John Stamos recently proposed to his girlfriend in the Animation Academy at Disney California Adventure. That room is one of my all-time favorite spots at the Disney Parks – you’re literally surrounded by music videos and sketches from the Disney films. So it got me thinking of which other spots would be perfect for someone looking to create a magical moment for their significant other. Here are the 10 best places to propose at Disneyland Resort.
1) Snow White’s Wishing Well
Located to the right of Sleeping Beauty Castle on the path to Fantasyland, this is the perfect iconic spot for a semi-private proposal. Have your intended make a wish and be ready to pop the question when they turn around.
2) Carthay Circle Restaurant
This is one of my favorite restaurants and the atmosphere is perfect for a proposal – 1930’s fixtures, a classic Hollywood feel, and piano versions of favorite Disney songs. Napa Rose, Steakhouse 55, or Blue Bayou are other great options.
3) At the Top of Mickey’s Fun Wheel
Located in Disney California Adventure, this ferris wheel offers great views of the park and Anaheim. Keep in mind that one set of gondolas is stationary while the other swings, so keep hold of that ring!
4) Disneyland Hotel Gazebo
The Disneyland Hotel hosts a rose garden that is frequently used for wedding ceremonies and events. If it’s not in use, this would be a lovely spot for a quiet proposal.
5) With a Disney Character
The characters love to help with special moments, so don’t be afraid to ask for a little help popping the question. Most are accompanied by a PhotoPass photographer, so try to give them a heads up so they can get plenty of photos for you.
6) Aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat
The Mark Twain has been touring Disneyland since it opened in 1955 and offers a ride around the Rivers of America. If you ask a Cast Member upon boarding, you may be able to ride up top with the captain.
7) Aboard the Disneyland Railroad / Main Street Train Station
Speaking of iconic trips around Disneyland, the Disneyland Railroad is another great spot. Picture making a round trip and proposing back at Main Street Station with a view of Main Street, U.S.A. behind you. For a truly special experience, ask a Cast Member first thing in the morning if there’s any way for you to catch a ride on the Lilly Belle.
8) In a Ride Photo
I’m sure you’ve seen photos of Splash Mountain proposals, but there are several attractions at Disneyland and California Adventure that offer photo opportunities: Radiator Springs Racers, Space Mountain, California Screamin’, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout. Look up where the photos will be taken and bring a sign (just be careful of those around you).
9) During the Fireworks or World of Color
Imagine a proposal just as Sleeping Beauty Castle is lighting up with dazzling fireworks. Or as colored jets of water shoot hundreds of feet into the air. Time your question during the finale for an epic backdrop.
10) In Front of Sleeping Beauty Castle
An obvious one, but a classic. Seize the moment in the morning for a fun day of celebration or wait until the end of the day to close out the evening in the glow of the castle.
